Colonial has been in business in Maine for 47 years, growing from a small independent adjusting firm into the largest in New England. Founded by John T. Kidder, III in 1974, Colonial is now lead by John’s son, CEO/President, Scott Kidder. Colonial’s success has been built on upholding their mission to deliver the most accurate adjustment services while providing unparalleled customer service to their clients. The company’s tagline, “Proven expertise you can count on.” is demonstrated every day in their personal commitment to building trust and relationships, and delivering the best possible service. Over the past two decades, the company has diversified by adding new business lines in dedicated casualty claims handling, auto adjusting, and contents adjusting. Since 2010, the company has almost doubled its staff and increased revenue considerably. In 2014, founder John Kidder, III officially retired, but is always available for consultation. It is important to the family that the business is learned from the ground up, and the third generation of the Kidder family has upheld this tradition with an internship this year. The Kidders treat everyone like part of their family, embracing a "Family First" motto, which promotes a healthy work environment that places great importance on employees taking care of their families and each other. They are intentional about promoting an encouraging and compassionate environment for all staff members.
