Main Line Fence was formed in 1948 as a seperate division of Robbins White - a structural steel company in Portland. Main Line Fence started by working at the dinning room table of the owner’s of Robbins White. For the next 20 years Main Line Fence grew while the steel business declined and was eventually dissolved. In that time Main Line Fence moved to a large facility of its own in Westbrook. In 1969 Main Line Fence was purchased by Norris Cianchette, who then purchased an 11-acre site in Cumberland and built a new modern facility. The entire business was moved from Westbrook to Cumberland where it has remained ever since. In 1986 Rocky Cianchette took over for Norris and in 2024 Ryan Cianchette took over official/complete control. Main Line Fence has worked to be adaptive to current trends and economic conditions. By specializing in 3- major sectors (Highway, Industrial/Commercial and Residential) - over the years Main Line Fence has been able to remain successful. We have installed fencing over the years for paper mills, prisons and military installations in the ’60’s-’80’s. Then where there was switch to spending on infrastructure we installed all the highway guardrail on I-295 and countless municipalities over the years. As well as fencing for CMP substations. In the early ’90’s there was a decline in government spending, so Main Line Fence started focusing on Residential Fencing. We started by purchasing pre-built cedar materials and have grown to a modern fabrication shop that was built in 2015. Thanks to having our own independant production facility on site, we can produce our own custom materials year round.
