Family Business History

Springborn Staffing was founded in 1987 in Portland by Robert Springborn as a franchise of Dunhill Staffing with a location at 193 Middle St, quickly becoming their #1 performing franchise in the country. The business went independent as Springborn Staffing in 1992, focusing on temporary, temp-to-hire and direct hire staffing in the Office/Clerical, Accounting/Finance and Legal Support industries. Over the years, the business expanded into medical & medical administrative and light industrial staffing. In 2008, the business was sold to Laura Thibodeau. Under Ms. Thibodeau's leadership, Springborn Staffing relocated to 106 Exchange Street, sold it's light industrial division Industaff to Maine Staffing Group and acquired 3 local professional recruiting agencies (WorkSource Staffing, Accomplished Professionals and D Gallant Management Associates). In 2018, the business moved it's current location at 97A Exchange St. In 2024, Ken & Erika DeSimone acquired Springborn from Ms. Thibodeau, with the goal of turning Springborn in a family business (3 kids, not yet of working age) and growing the Accounting &; Finance areas of the business. Ken serves as the President and manages the day-to-day, while Erika supports major decision making as the majority shareholder of the business.
