With over 31 years of experience in constructing with a purpose, Great Falls Construction is one of Northern New England’s premier construction management, design build, general contracting and development firms. Respected throughout the industry for our meticulous craftsmanship and committed customer service, Great Falls has a diverse portfolio ranging from multi-million dollar commercial projects to detailed period-style homes, historical restorations, and multifamily affordable housing. Our team works closely together and with our partners to diligently manage projects in multiple industries including but not limited to municipal, commercial, residential, historical, medical, financial and retail. We apply our founding principle of meeting project needs through technology and practical construction knowledge.

Family Business History

Great Falls Construction was established in 1988 by Jonathan Smith. The leadership team consists of Jon and his wife Cindy who are the President and Vice President respectively as well as other key team members. Jon and Cindy have five children all of whom have worked for the family business throughout their lives in one capacity or another. Courtney is a school teacher in Gorham and works at Great Falls in the summertime helping with administrative tasks and overall office organization. Courtney has a bachelor’s degree in Education and is pursuing her Master’s degree part time in Educational Leadership at the University of Southern Maine. Julie returned the summer of 2019 after five years of working, living and studying in Boston/Italy to join the family business working full time in Business Development. In May of 2018, Julie graduated with her Master’s degree in Management from the Harvard University Extension School. Jacob has been working full time for Great Falls since 2016 in the field developing his knowledge of the technicalities involved in our industry. He is also a part time student finishing up a degree in Construction Management at the University of Southern Maine. Joseph joined the business full time after finishing his undergraduate degree in Business at Saint Anselm’s College in Manchester New Hampshire. Joseph works as a Project Administrator closely supporting the day to day accounting operations of the company. Colby is finishing up his degree in Business at Saint Joseph’s College and plans to start full time at Great Falls upon his graduation in the spring of 2020. Colby has worked for Great Falls in the field as well as in estimating as an intern with our lead estimator.
