Business Description
BreakTogether Building on twenty years in employee wellbeing and leadership development training, I launched BreakTogether in early 2016 to provide introductory mindfulness training to workplaces in Maine. The goal is to improve individual wellbeing and workplace productivity by teaching people how to manage the pressures of daily work and digital connection through simple practices to pause, think, and respond vs. reacting. In less than 90-minutes we introduce the neuroscience behind our limited human capacity for being always "on", talk about the myth of multi-tasking, and teach simple practices that can be used anywhere with all types of work - from offices to farming, or factories. Mindful Employer Collaborative As we move from profit-based capitalism toward conscious capitalism, a shift needs to take place in how you talk about your business and higher purpose to create stronger connections with your employees and build engagement. As businesses work to attract young professionals, connection to your mission and values becomes even more important. Regardless of age, product and employment decisions are increasingly being made to align with values. Our 6-question employee experience survey, in concert with consulting support from our team, helps you communicate and measure your employee engagement in 3 key areas: connection to your company’s mission and higher purpose, connection to management, and connection to self and wellbeing. We provide you with in-person support to begin the discussion, gather feedback, and recommend a path forward. We do this collaboratively with your existing resources, our expertise, and a vetted network of mindful consultants and practitioners as needed. The Mindful Employer Designation is awarded by your employees and it's not a competition. We celebrate the journey together. And we support you personally as you navigate feedback and develop strategies to raise the bar.
Family Business History
Although I grew up in a family-owned business - Bearing Supply Co., serving the agricultural Central Valley in California, BreakTogether and Mindful Employer is first generation. Being a part of my dad's business as a child had very positive impacts on my work ethic. I learned to count during annual inventory, where all of the family members joined in. I also learned the value of relationship building and integrity as I rode in my dad's station wagon to visit and serve customers all around the San Joaquin valley - the farms and food processing plants. While my dad's title was sales, his method was relationship building and creative problem solving. This foundation is a big part of why I am in Business today after working as an employee for several decades. We need more family-owned businesses; they are what make our country and communicates great. I hope to build and serve our community in a way that makes my dad proud.
