Business Description

We recently renovated our Orono location. We have big plans for the future with online shopping, marketing, and curbside pick up to-go orders. We have upgraded our POS systems in both our stores to accomodate this. We are/have been very "Old School" and since we purchased the stores 6 years ago, we are at the point now we can move forward and start adding the digital age to our stores. We want to remain the locally owned and operated family owned store, but we understand the future of the grocery business. We pride ourselved in community involvement. We partner with Food Pantries, Churches, ATV Clubs, and Youth Sports to do a "Supermarket Sweep Grocery Grab" in which these non profit organizations raise money by selling tickets to win a chance for a $1,000 shopping spree at our store. This is VERY popular and the groups that do it raise a lot of money! We often have news crews there to record the events. We also do a "Round Up" your receipt to help fund raise for local charities and groups. We recently did one for Old Town Project Graduation that raised them almost $2,000 in just 30 days! We recently won the "IGA Hometown Proud Award" that was presented to us in Las Vegas. This was only the 2nd time in IGA History that this award was given and it may never get given out again! We were picked for this award as it fits us accordingly. I have attached the video from Las Vegas at the awards ceremony for you to see. This award could have been won by any of the 8,000 IGA's around the world! This was huge for us. We also won the IGA Retailer of the Year for the United States, and won the Northeast Retailer of the Year for the Giffen/Shelby Report which was presented to us in Las Vegas as well! We are very proud of these awards and we are very proud of what we do for and in our communities. We also are very proud of our Military Discount, Senior Citizen Discount, and College Student Discount (all 5%) that we give out on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This is very important to us! We are happy to be able to do this for the Veterens and Seniors! We sell food unmatched in Value, Quality, and Freshness" This mission statement was used by the previous owners and we have kept it in their honor. Our goal was to continue their legacy. Ed and Kathy Bell are/were very well knows and respected in the grocery retail business. I would not be suprised if any of you knew ED! He is a legend!
