Coffee By Design (CBD); a Maine owned and operated specialty coffee roasters/ retailer. In addition to serving some of the world's finest coffee, Coffee By Design is committed to running a sustainable business dedicated to progressive arts and social change - here in Maine as well as around the world at origin where they buy their coffee.
Family Business History
Coffee By Design opened its doors in Downtown Portland in 1994. Mary Allen and Alan are founders and first generation owners. Alina, their 15 year-old daughter, just started as a barista. Their nephew Travis is head production roaster and has been with CBD since he was 15 (now thirty).
