Springvale Farm Walk

Celebrate Maine Open Farm Day on Sunday, July 27, with the 11th Annual Springvale Farm Walk—a scenic, self-guided tour through the thriving agricultural heart of Springvale. Join friends, neighbors, and visitors from across Maine—and even around the world—as you stroll from farm to farm along mowed paths and gravel trails.

The nine farms along the route showcase the diversity of local agriculture, with sheep, orchard fruit, vegetables, herbs, flowers, berries, mushrooms, and more. Don’t miss a stop at the Sanford Community Garden. This year’s theme is “Beneficial Insects” and each farm will spotlight a favorite helpful insect, and many will offer refreshments or farm-fresh items for sale.

Kick off your day with “Muffins with Friends,” hosted by Three Rivers Land Trust starting at 9 a.m. at McDougal Orchards. Enjoy muffins, quick breads, and other light breakfast treats (including vegan and gluten-free options), along with coffee and tea—available on a first-come, first-served basis. Donations are welcome, with all proceeds supporting the Sanford Community Forest.

Event details:

Farms on Hanson Ridge Rd, Blanchard Rd, and Sunset Rd will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Start and end wherever you like—parking is available at multiple farms
Paths are well-marked, family-friendly, and offer bathroom and port-a-john access along the route
Wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather
Mountain bikers, runners, and leashed dogs are welcome!
