“How-To” Culture & Leadership – 💡🤝 Leading in a Way People Want to Be Part Of

How To’s for the Family Business
A series of practical conversations about the real work of running a family business—how you lead, communicate, and make decisions along the way.

Each conversation focuses on a different part of the work—how your business grows, how your people experience it, how decisions get made, and how things actually run day to day.

___________________________________________________________________________________________

Culture isn’t something you write down—it’s what people experience day to day. In a family business, that often comes back to how leaders show up—especially when things are under pressure or not going as planned.

A question underneath all of this is: what do people experience from you?

We’ll look at how small choices—how you communicate, respond to mistakes, follow through, or avoid a conversation—add up over time.  There will also be space to talk about the tension between wanting people to speak up and needing clarity and accountability.

We’ll get into some of the harder parts, too: giving honest feedback, navigating conflict, and working through the added layer of history that comes with a family business.

The goal isn’t to define the “right” culture. It’s to leave with a clearer sense of what your leadership is already creating—and a few things you might try with your team.

Speakers: Leah Chamberlin, Chief People Officer, Horch Roofing, and Tisha Bremner, Founder, Insightful Workplace Solutions

Leah Chamberlin brings a strong belief that people are at the center of how a business succeeds—and that culture shows up in the everyday experience of work. In her role at Horch Roofing, she focuses on building alignment, consistency, and trust across teams, especially as the business grows and evolves. She’s known for blending a genuine care for people with clear expectations and follow-through—often helping teams name what’s not being said and move forward in a practical way. Leah holds a background in human capital strategy, management, and behavioral economics from the Yale School of Management, and tends to approach leadership with both curiosity and a roll-up-your-sleeves mindset.

Tisha Bremner is the founder of Insightful Workplace Solutions, a leadership development company dedicated to helping organizations build positive, high-performing cultures. With over 25 years of experience across healthcare, insurance, higher education, and professional services, Tisha partners with organizations to elevate leadership impact, strengthen teams, and improve employee engagement.
