Business Description
Many of Allagash’s most interesting and creative beers emerged from the brewery’s Pilot Program, which allows any employee, no matter their role, to try their hand at creating a new beer by suggesting a recipe concept. If the Pilot Team sees the concept’s potential, the employee is matched with an experienced brewer and together they brew a batch and then it is tested by Allagash employees. If reviews are good, it could be sold in the Tasting Room and if popular there, the beer may be packaged as part of Allagash’s From Maine, with Love series, which is sold directly out of the brewery. And a handful of those beers get rebranded and distributed across Allagash’s national footprint. Allagash’s Pilot Program first began in 2007 and has since seen the release of hundreds of beers including favorites such as Floating Holiday, Haunted House, Clementine Kolsch, and Surf House. The program encourages experimentation and connects all employees to the making of the beer, giving everyone a stake in the company’s future success and the chance to shape Allagash’s next great beer. Our values come into play each day and can be summed up as “we’re good together.” This means that not only are we able to do more by working together, but that, at Allagash, they enjoy the process of getting to know and learning from members of our community. Sharing passion and knowledge, learning from community partners, and going beyond monetary donations to address some of the most pressing issues in their Portland and greater Maine community are examples of some of the most fulfilling work that Rob has led the Allagash team in doing. This played out in tangible actions and results, such as continuing our now 5-year-old Allagash Recycling Co-op, which has recycled over 250 tons of hard-to-recycle items to date, like grain bags, PakTech Carriers, shrink wrap and more; investing in clean water conservation through Sebago Clean Waters; and brewing with more Maine-grown grain than ever. We purchased equipment that allows us to bale these items, and have invited partners to drop off their waste with us, volunteering our labor, equipment and physical space for the greater good of the community. Another specific example- any smaller brewery in the state can ask us for help with a QC issue and we will use our expertise and equipment to help. We are stronger together and always there to lend a helping hand.
Get in touch with us via phone, email, or online contact form, and we’ll be in touch to discuss the ways in which we can work together.
