Overview

Let’s face it. Family businesses are unlike any other. There are unique circumstances and challenges inherent in the world of family business; premier among them is the issue of governance…governing the business and governing the family.

The Institute for Family-Owned Business has created a program that gets to the heart of the issue. This interactive, practical learning experience—October 6-7, 2010 in Freeport, Maine—will provide you solutions to your specific problems. You will come to understand the advantages and disadvantages of boards of advisors or directors, of family councils, and family offices.

Good governance means greater profit and longevity for the family firm. The challenge is to get it right for your long-term future, and that of your heirs. Our faculty from around the country constitute family businesspeople with experience in the governance of 44 family firms.
